Celebrity Horoscope
Patricia Routledge
Patricia Routledge is one great lady. A fine Aquarian to boot! But this popular British Thespian could certainly not be called a rock and roller, even though she has had a distinguished singing career, and starred on Broadway, in the “Darling of the Day”, for which she won a coveted Tony Award in 1968. She is pure British class, a manifestation of the old school, in the best possible way. The daughter of a haberdasher she lived in the basement of her father’s outlet during the Second World War. She is old world class. She acts old world style, not in a derogatory way, but in the best possible one. She would not go a whole bunch on the Lee Strasbourg method school of acting anyway. A role opposite Marlon Brando would have been like playing his chalk to her cheese.
She is a traditionalist pillar of her profession, a significant Taurus aspect in her horoscope says so. She is steady, focused, a trooper, adept at characterization, and certainly able to draw the line between being, and pretending to be, the part. Her sun in Aquarius would make her a charitable soul, a good sort, ready to contribute her own to the world. She realises she has been blessed with luck, and a prolific talent that we all benefit from; and inspires her to greatness. She once said “There is nothing like that audience response when it is working with you, nothing!” Patricia trained at the Liverpool Old Vic, and came to the fore due to her genial capacity to communicate with her audience. She has an inbuilt charm and dignity on stage and screen, yet is as conservative as a Grandfather Clock when it comes to her personal life.
Change is not her thing. She sticks by her friends, her home, her things, and her ways of seeing the world. She does enough of that inner searching of a character when she takes on a role. That is enough change for her! At home, she wants all to be in place, needs to know where each pin and pencil is, and will deal with life challenges with dogged conscientiousness. She is in short, a “chip off the old block!” Yet so stunning is she, it is hard to think she is 80 years of age! She has appeared in Coronation Street; hit the jackpot with her hilarious Hyacinth Bucket in “Keeping up Appearances”. Starred with Victoria Wood and did a series of Alan Bennett’s “Talking Heads” to great acclaim. Her career has been varied; she even acted alongside Sidney Poitier, in “To Sir with Love” in the sixties.
So what makes this stalwart, strong willed, charismatic lady tick? Her success is due to a great capacity to give her all, not only as a professional actress, but as a friend to members of the cast. Anyone working with Patricia will realise what a lovely person she is, and how great is her team spirit. This is not only due to her “universal love” Aquarian sun sign style. That Taurus influence will make her trustworthy too, you can leave your old, smelly dog with Patricia and she will still be stroking it when you return from your shopping spree down the mall! Some rather complex Scorpio elements to her horoscope will make her more than astute. She can pick up the nuances of a role with extraordinary savoir faire, able to interpret undercurrent phobias of a character to perfection. She can also see a “flake” at twenty paces in everyday life, and has an inbuilt alarm system that rings a loud “no” when a person is not to her liking.
As far as her career is concerned one could disagree with her type casting, as she is usually the middle aged matriarch, or harassed housewife, but we love those characterizations so much, they have become her specialty. After all we all know a Patricia. She is our mother in law, an older sister, a nice auntie who makes apricot jam, the lady behind the haberdashery counter, the head mistress, the retired nursing sister. Patricia is not exactly eccentric, but with Mercury in Aquarius she is a law unto her own. She will stick her heels in when it comes to points of view, and frankly not budge from a perception, she says it like it is and will continue to say it like it is to her grave. She has a well developed mind, and a capacity to “detach” from her characters. She sort of “sizes them up”, before bringing them to life, she has to understand them, and once she does she will not budge from her point of view of how they should be.
With Venus in Aries Patricia is a flirt, she loves to laugh and joke, loves to enjoy a companion she can tune into, and share her innermost thoughts with. She will fall in love suddenly, like a rock off a high place, and will want Mr. Right to enjoy her taste in music, and art. She likes the gentleman to be of her same ilk, to have her same perspective on the ills of society and the great potential inherent in all mankind. With Jupiter in Taurus, Patricia will not store her money under her mattress, but in a safe place, like an underground vault! She is sensible, always has been, never spending more than she has. But then, look at the lady. Note that dignified carriage, that open demeanor, she is a symbol of how we British used to be. Strong, determined, optimistic, never-say-die! No wonder we all love her!
This year Patricia will be striking out in new directions. The Planet Uranus will see to it she finds other forms of expressing herself, and all of a sudden too! She will want more creativity in her life, even more romance. She is ready to edge a bit out of character, put her explorer hat on, “a la Hyacinth Bucket” taking to the highway, as long as you do not forget to wind up her Grandfather Clock, she will not mind accepting a new idea. This lady is unique, her never-say-die personality inspiring us all. We wonder what her next exploits will be, hopefully they will continue until she is 100. We expect show biz news when it comes to her talents over the next couple of years. Be sure whatever happens she will be successful, and we will applaud her along her star strewn way!
